Become an Athlete

AR2 Thinking of joining us? We know you’ll love it. Special Olympics athletes are children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  Anyone with an intellectual disability is eligible to participate.

Our sports and fitness programs run year-round and we welcome athletes of all skill levels, offering a variety of programs for athletes of various ages.

For our youngest athletes, ages 4-7, we offer Active Start. This program is anAR11 introduction to basic motor skills. Through fun and play, these young athletes are able to build on and improve their physical, social and cognitive abilities.

Athletes who are ages 7-11, are able to participate in Special Olympics London through FUNdamentals. FUNdamentals focuses on developing basic sport skills while creating a level of enjoyment for physical activity in young athletes. Through these ideals we hope that this will encourage athletes to live a healthy, active life through sport.

AR5For safety reasons, London’s policy requires athletes to be at least 12 years of age to participate in team sports. There is no upper age limit for sports other than Active Start, FUNdamentals and those designated as youth sports (for example, youth bowling).

Come join us and share the joy and passion that our athletes have already discovered. Make new friends. Get healthier. Share your abilities with us and find yourself in a world of acceptance and encouragement.
